Having previously supplied technical production needs for his 2014 arena tour, which was staged in the round, Adlib joined forces with the comedian’s production team once again for a sell-out tour across the UK. Delivering appropriate production in the right proportions and places is key to delivering live comedy on a large scale. Presenting this very intimate level of entertainment and communication, ensuring that audiences in larger venues enjoy the same essential experiences of a one-to-one scenario, is vital. If you have anything to do with the live production industry, chances are you’ve at least seen a few images of the multi-coloured madness that was the Pet Shop Boys’ four-night residency at London’s Royal Opera House. The visual aspect alone was overwhelming – complete with light-up balloons, inflatable fat suits and enough laser firepower to raise an eyebrow or two on the bridge of the Death Star. A highlight of the festival, which draws 150,000 visitors, are the concerts at the Barra Imperial Stage by popular local and regional musicians as well as internationally acclaimed recording artists. The 2017 edition of the festival concert was no exception. Produced by Eventos Especiales de Cerveceria…
Cape Town based event technical solution company, C&S, have invested in an additional 12 Robe BMFL Blade fixtures to complement their existing stock purchased from DWR Distribution. The BMFLs have been out on rental and have never been back at the office since. In fact, Bradley Bruchhausen from DWR Cape Town, had to take a demo unit to C&S in order to take a photo to accompany this press release! Donald Clark, owner of C&S now has a total of 24 BMFLs, and the demand is so great that he sometimes has to rent in units from other companies. On…

With their previous Hail To The King record cycle coming to an end, fans began to wonder what was next for the Californian five-piece. The result was a secret release of their seventh studio album, The Stage, which arguably stands as one of the most concept-driven albums ever attempted by the band, tackling issues such as artificial intelligence and the self-destruction of modern society. As the band pushed the boundaries of their musical material, it seemed fitting that the impending tour would follow suit. Attempting to recapture past glories can be difficult at the best of times, and that harsh reality is rarely more apparent than in a world as unforgiving as that of mainstream pop music. A particularly shrewd way of sidestepping this problem is to return to the limelight as a different prospect altogether. A colossal string of hits and an ardent fan base have ensured that The Cure have been held as one of alternative music’s standard bearers for over four decades. TPi’s Ste Durham was on site at Manchester Arena to get an inside look at the band’s impressive return to the touring circuit. November 2016 saw The Cure return to Manchester after 12 years away from the city’s concert venues, with tickets understandably flying out of the box offices the second that the tour was announced at a similar time the year before. Luckily for these devoted legions, The Cure repaid…
When Green Day first formed back in 1986, the music industry was a very different place. The purchase of cassette tapes was the norm and radio was still the purveyor of all that was cool and relevant. Although many of the fresh-faced kids currently crowding into the O2 Arena are more likely to listen to Green Day’s new album on Spotify, it is amazing that the trio has been able to stay popular and important during a career that has spanned over three decades. Furthermore, each album cycle welcomes yet another batch of fans eager to join the band’s global…
Production Manager Daniel Gibson’s work ethic is evident; he’s focussed and ingrained as a cog on this tour, a tour that has grown considerably over the last couple of years. Having been with the band from the beginning of their real touring requirements, he knows what their show needs from day-to-day. Whereas in the beginning, the band bestowed a determination to succeed rooted in a DIY ethos, in 2017 their integrity remains… just on a much larger scale. The hard work paid off and these days TØP can be heard on daytime radio, soundtracking blockbuster films and selling out arenas…
Last time Jess Glynne visited Glasgow, she played the 2,500-capacity O2 Academy. This time, almost exactly a year later, the venue is The SSE Hydro and the audience is pushing the 13,000 limit. Glynne and the crew are at the front end of a 10-date UK arena tour, which started in Birmingham on 18 November 2016 and will end two weeks later with the tour’s final two shows at London’s O2 Arena and Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena. The 20 Years of Placebo World Tour had already drawn thousands of fans across Europe when the band’s busses rolled into England’s Second City, and as TPi was welcomed into the Barclaycard Arena, the atmosphere was one of stoic positivity. It’s not unheard of for morale to remain high throughout such an arena run, but the familiarity that was immediately evident was soon justified by the information that the crew had not seen a major personnel change in eight years. Country singer/songwriter Jamie Lee Thurston has travelled a long and winding road since his first performance at age three in the Green Hill Mountains, sitting on the lap of his father, the legendary local bandleader Jimmy T Thurston. After a brief stint-playing guitar for the family band, the gravelly voiced singer struck out on his own, first to LA and then Nashville. A couple of hits came next, followed by success as a songwriter, penning tunes like Rodney Atkins’ Top 20 single “15 Minutes.” Then there was a Warner Bros. contract and endless road tours. Recently, the Vermont native returned…
