French loudspeaker manufacturer APG has announced the hiring of two new engineers. The announcement comes after the company joined forces with Active Audio in April. Charlotte Gegout has joined APG’s R&D department, having graduated from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), which has trained some of the best French engineers since 1925, as an Acoustical Engineer. Since joining APG in June, Charlotte has taken on a research project on the development of new technologies in acoustic loads. Leading loudspeaker systems manufacturer, d&b audiotechnik, has announced it has joined the AVnu Alliance, the industry consortium that fosters the adoption of Audio Video Bridging (AVB) and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) protocols and an open ecosystem of certified products. Italian company Clay Paky featured heavily at this year’s Ruhr Reggae Summer in northwestern Germany. Simon Sonnenschmidt, who was in charge of the show lighting design and programming in the Dancehall Soundsystem Arena, for U-Concert Veranstaltungsproduktionen, used 13 Clay Paky Sharpys, four Spheriscans and four Supersharpys, together with one dot2 core plus and a dot2 F-wing. For nearly 40 years, Avolites equipment has been found surviving the mud in each corner of the Worthy Farm takeover. Internationally acclaimed a capella group Pentatonix, famous for reworking popular chart hits in their own unique style, are currently undergoing a world tour. Audio company Adlib has announced the addition of two new key appointments to its Scottish operation, with Barclay Dakers joining as Business Development Manager and Craig Hamilton as Operations Manager. On Saturday 2 July, L-ISA Live was deployed at Berlin Waldbühne for a concert of the most famous Disney film melodies performed by the Berlin Philharmonic. L-ISA Live is the latest technology from L-Acoustics founder Christian Heil, and aims to deliver a sound as natural as possible. Belgium-based engineering and automation specialist WIcreations has designed and fabricated a bespoke rotating system to hold and rotate five large scenic objects for the current Caos tour by hugely popular Spanish singer Malú. Niece of famous Flamenco composer and guitarist Paco de Lucia, Malú enjoyed her first hits as a teenager in the 1990s, which have been followed by a highly successful career in her home country. Her current tour lasts until November and will have played 69 dates in Spain by the time it concludes. The Association of Lighting Designers (ALD) has announced the winners of its prestigious Michael Northen Bursary Award at a ceremony aligned with the recent ABTT Theatre Show. The bursary is awarded annually to students or recent graduates of lighting studies in the UK who have demonstrated strong, imaginative and creative lighting design, and is bestowed in collaboration with Mousetrap Theatre Projects. American hard rock band Heart were joined by lighting rental specialist HSL on the UK leg of their recent tour in anticipation of their new album Beautiful Broken. HSL supplied lighting and rigging equipment and crew for the band, whose career has spanned five decades.
