DPA’s 4006A omnidirectional microphones were used to great effect recently when producer and engineer Brendon Heinst wanted to capture the rich, velvety sound that is the hallmark of Dutch/Russian classical pianist Helena Basilova. Fearing the microphones he already owned were too ‘bright’ for the task, Heinst contacted DPA’s Benelux distributor, Amptec, who recommended a 5006A Surround Kit consisting of five 4006A microphones, which are carefully factory-matched so that their already low standard tolerances are even closer – within ±0.5 dB.
