Belgian engineering, animation and rigging specialist WIcreations has enjoyed an incredibly busy summer supplying a selection of their standard rental products like WI Towers and WI Touring Track to a diverse variety of music festivals and live events.

Dominator 2016

Dominator 2016 is organised by hard style dance festival and event producers Q-Dance and is one of the largest gatherings for hardcore techno hard trance fans, staged each year in the park at Strand Eersel, Netherlands where WI provided six 11.5m towers for the Main stage used out in the crowd for PA delays and audience lighting. Two 10.8m WI towers were used for the second stage all helping 50,000 hardcore-heads to enjoy a weekend of musical indulgence.

On the main stage, the WI team installed four chain hoists in the roof to lift the DJ Booth up and down plus four more hoists to move a giant scenic skull weighing 700kg above the DJs.

Last but not least one WI rotator was utilised to spin the Dominator Logo!

2 Meisjes op het strand (2 Girls on the Beach)

For Belgian broadcaster and TV channel VTM and their fabulous music festival on Little Beach in Ostend, WI delivered two 12.5m high PA towers and a 15m lighting tower which supported a 12m diameter circular truss flown at 6m high and rigged with lights used to illuminated the audience and throw to the stage. A follow spot platform was built on the top of the tower proving just how flexible this piece of WI kit really is.

Decibel 2016

WIcreations headed back to Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands for more EDM at the Decibel Outdoor Festival, an annual event organized by B2S since 2002 attracting more than 10,000 visitors from around the world.

For its client Gigant Stage & Event Constructions, WI erected two 12.5m delay towers together with four main 15m high PA towers for the Main Stage.

The WI-Tower is based on 750mm x 750mm – outside dimensions – reinforced with the main cords made of square 60mm tubes with flat connections on the outside corners to allow a sleeve block to move from top to bottom! A number of attachments are available to fit onto the sleeve block according to usage requirements and they can be used in many configurations for heights of up to 15m (standard) due to the large and stable base system. Taller configurations are also possible with additional calculation, weights and cabling.

EMF, Electro Beach Music Festival

The frenetic festival season continued with the WI production team heading to the sunny Med coast at Le Bacarès in France for Electro Beach 2016, the country’s biggest electronic and trance festival!

150,000 EDM fans amassed to see and hear some of the best DJs on the planet including Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Martin Solveig, Axwell & Ingrosso plus many more.

WI installed a 24m WI Touring Track to move six vertical lighting trusses across the back of the stage into different positions, creating a dynamic kinetic backdrop and providing a neat solution that was safe even when the wind increased.

WI also provided nine CM Lodestar JJ half tonne hoists, seven runners and all the necessary drives, cabling and controls to build and run the system.

The WI Track is a lightweight trolley based system created by WIcreations for moving all kind of structures around. It is developed and designed for touring, so fast installation is guaranteed due to a special connecting method.

Pinkpop

One of the best-known European music festivals and this was edition 47, also making it the longest running dedicated pop and rock music festival in the world!

Pinkpop is traditionally staged at Landgraaf in the Netherlands and usually on Pinksteren (Pentecost) weekend, however this year event was shifted back four weeks and WI delivered two 6m sound towers for Stage 4.

Amsterdam Open Air Weekender

After the five previous sold-out editions, Amsterdam Open Air returned to the leafy green recreational area of Gaasperpark for its sixth edition.

Highlights of Amsterdam’s dynamic and eclectic nightlife united in a showcase of musical, culinary and cultural adventure hugely popular, for which WI provided two 10m PA towers to fly the main sound arrays for the STRAF_WERK stage.

Indian Summer

Maybe a little early timeline wise given the name, this annual multi-stage music extravaganza in Geestmerambacht, Langedijk, Netherlands featured an interesting mix of pop and rock and dance music, plus theatre, comedy and assorted other entertainment genres, all attracting a very chilled audience of 25,000 guests.

Nassau Festival

On Kings Day 2016, the Olympic district of Amsterdam was transformed into Nassau festival, a new event and collaboration between Amsterdam based promoters STRAF_WERK and REAKTOR, infamous tech-curator De Sluwe Vos and Vice’s electronic music portal, THUMP.

All the hosts delivered a stage, characterised by their own distinctive and diverse programming and defining musical characters.
