L8 Visualiser has announced the release of L8 v65, featuring a fully free license tier: L8 MVR. Designed to lower the entry barrier for lighting designers, pre-programmers, and students, the new edition enables users to leverage real-time visualisation straight out of the box without requiring a physical hardware dongle.
The L8 MVR license introduces native support for the My Virtual Rig (.mvr) file format, allowing seamless scene imports directly from major CAD and lighting design software. Operating via cloud activation, users can instantly unlock access to up to 128 fixtures across 2 DMX universes directly within the application interface.
Key Features of the L8 MVR Free Tier:
Native MVR Integration: Instant scene import from third-party design and planning applications via standard .mvr files.
Full Fixture Library Access: Access to the complete, continuously updated L8 Fixture Library with high-precision beam rendering and physical optics.
128 Fixtures & 2 DMX Universes: Real-time control and visualisation for small-to-mid-sized rigs.
Hardware-Free Activation: No USB dongle required. Licenses are generated directly inside the app with an active internet connection.
1 Year of Free Updates: Includes full access to software enhancements and library updates for 12 months, after which the installed build remains functional indefinitely.
“With the industry rapidly adopting open standards like MVR, our goal with L8 MVR is to provide accessible, high-performance visualisation to every designer,” said the L8 Development Team. “By removing hardware dongle requirements for this tier, users can setup, test scenes, and pre-program lighting setups anywhere with absolute ease.”
The L8 MVR license is included by default in the L8 v65 installation package, available for download today. Users can activate their free 1-year license directly from the application’s startup screen.
