Located on the Norwich Research Park in East Anglia, The Quadram Institute (QI) is a new state-of-the-art food and health research and endoscopy centre. The Institute is at the forefront of a new interface between food science, gut biology and health, developing solutions to global challenges in food-related disease and human health. The QI brings together research teams from Quadram Institute Bioscience, the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), as well as a new Regional Endoscopy Centre and Clinical Research Facility.
There is a growing demand for specialist endoscopic delivery and for the clinicians, researchers and students involved in endoscopy procedures and examinations at the centre, excellence in AV provision is critical. Delivering live video and audio feeds in real time and without any loss in quality is essential and the QI engaged leading integrator Snelling Business Systems to install what constituted a benchmark AVoIP project.
POLAR supplied ZeeVee products to meet the requirements of the endoscopy suites at the QI. ZeeVee is the leading global developer of digital technology and products for distributing audio-video content from any source, or multiple sources, to any number of displays. Will Turney, BDM at POLAR Integrated Solutions consulted over the project, facilitating and attending overview sessions with representatives of Snelling and ZeeVee.
The sessions enabled Snelling to receive ZeeVee certification training and explore in great detail the application of these cutting-edge products. Snelling installed products from ZeeVee’s ZyPer4K range, making the QI the first endoscopy site in the UK to deploy uncompressed 4K video (SDVoE) over a 10Gb Ethernet network using fibre interconnectivity. The scheme covered interconnected endoscopy units and a two-way divisible seminar room. The ZyPer4K product line delivers near zero-latency (100 microseconds) and pixel-perfect, uncompressed 4K 60 444 picture quality across the piece.
The system comprised a total of 9 x ZyPer4K HDMI 2.0 Fiber Decoders, with 11 x ZyPer4K 2.0 HDMI Fiber Encoders, all in conjunction with a ZyPer4K Management Platform for 25-48 endpoints. 4 x HDMI 2.0 & SDI encoders (medical version) completed the installation. For use in such settings, these specially developed medical versions must pass rigorous electrical testing to prove that the hardware does not interfere with any other equipment in close proximity.
