Version 2 makes substantial Robe investment

Robe UK Key Account Manager, Ashley Lewis with Version2 Lights Managing Director, Nick Edwards.

Reading-based Version 2 Lights has made a large investment in Robe FORTE moving lights with the purchase of 50 fixtures to service upcoming projects. Among the first in the UK, eight Robe FORTE fixtures will be working hard this winter as followspots on ITV’s new talent show, Walk the Line, under the supervision of TPi Award-winning Lighting Designer, Tim Routledge.

Versions 2 Lights Managing Director, Nick Edwards picked up the story: “We needed a high-powered, high-quality fixture to meet the demands of the big shows, so explored a number of options and selected FORTE as the best fixture with optimum quality output for camera.”

V2’s first Robe purchase was two years ago for the television broadcast of The BRITs Are Coming at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith in 2020, also designed by Routledge.

“With LDs – especially in the LE (light entertainment) sphere – increasingly specifying Robe and a string of great new products coming to market, Robe had clearly been listening to the demands and challenges of the sector and the time was right,” Edwards explained.

During the lockdown of live events, V2’s primary work featured a steady supply of small lighting packages for webcam livestreams from artists’ homes. However, with the demand for new content soaring as restrictions eased, V2 was back providing lighting production for Strictly Come Dancing with Lighting Designer, Dave Bishop; I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! with Lighting Designer, James Tinsley; The Epic Game Show with Lighting Designer, Tim Routledge and The Jonathan Ross Show with Lighting Designer Oli Richards, among others.

“As our company continues to grow exponentially, we are well resourced to make significant investments pertinent to specific production,” Edwards concluded. “This latest Robe investment underlines our commitment to ensuring clients.”
