Tensor Go for Tal Jones

Young musician takes advantage of HH Electronics Tensor Go portable PA system. Tal Jones a Songwriting graduate of BIMM London is now based in Cardiff where he is a member of Welsh band Hudo.

In order to meet the needs of this spectrum of gigs, Jones decided to invest in a portable compact PA system which was easy to transport and set up, up and had the quality to deliver a performance. He explained, “I realised quite quickly that in order to get the most out of doing my smaller solo gigs, I needed to be able to sometimes provide a PA. Not every venue has a sound system and although many are keen to stage live music, the onus is on the artist to supply their own. House parties are also something that crop up from time to time, not to mention the odd bit of busking! I took a look at some of the options and loved the Tensor Go straight away.”

With 4-channel integrated mic/line mixing functionality, high-grade balanced ¼ inch XLR combination input connections, and a studio quality digital reverb, Tensor Go also packs a high-capacity integrated lithium-ion battery, enabling cable-free operation. Jones continued: “Most of the time, I have the unit plugged into the mains, but the battery has proved invaluable on a number of occasions such as outdoor fringe performances and garden gigs where it would otherwise involve running long hazardous mains extensions! From a performance point of view, I only use two inputs, one for the guitar and one for a vocal mic. The sound is punchy and crisp and easily fills substantial spaces – the sub gives the acoustic guitar real body and the vocal is really clear. The Bluetooth facility for playing background music between sets makes life very easy.”

“I sometimes use the Live setting for adding a bit of oomph in busier settings but the Natural setting is exactly what it says on the tin! When it comes to parties or gatherings where people want to dance after the live music is finished, the Tensor Go can be wound up to give a really full sound. People have remarked to me that they are surprised at just how punchy it can be,” Jones added.

“It’s light, easy to transport, so quick to set up, and has widened the field for what it’s possible for me to do. It’s also worth saying that it didn’t break the bank. As a young musician, my budget is tight and any purchases have to be considered in terms of how quickly they return investment,” Jones concluded.  “The Tensor Go was competitively priced and I feel that I’ve got a very professional piece of kit that’s already delivered great value. The unit now lives in the corner of my room and takes up very little space. I like plugging in to practice stuff to get a better ‘feel’ – even at ‘bedroom’ volumes, it has a great warm sound.”
