Pieter Smit Group has acquired UK-based artist and crew transportation specialist, MM Band Services. The move marks a significant expansion of Pieter Smit’s existing nightliner fleet and establishes a permanent, strategic passenger transport hub directly in the UK.
Under the terms of the agreement, MM Band Services will continue to operate under its own name from its UK base, ensuring continuity for clients and day-to-day operations. This ensures complete continuity of service for its existing clientele of tour managers, promoters, and artists.
While Pieter Smit Group already operates its own dedicated fleet of nightliners, the addition of MM Band Services significantly scales up the group’s capacity. By integrating MM’s premium fleet and deep-rooted UK expertise, the Pieter Smit Group sets its position as a true one-stop-shop for international stadium and arena tours. Clients can now seamlessly coordinate their entire touring infrastructure (including heavy freight, specialised staging transport, backline logistics, and premium artist/crew travel) through a single, unified European network.
The acquisition is a strategic fit for both companies, driven by a shared operational philosophy and a mutual commitment to sustainable touring. Both fleets are optimised for eco-friendly operations, combining HVO-ready Nightliners with Pieter Smit’s ongoing transition toward emission-free transport solutions on the continent.
Louise Smit, CEO of Pieter Smit Group, commented: “This step is a natural continuation of how we have always approached our business: staying close to our clients and adapting to the realities of international touring. Since Brexit, operating between the UK and Europe has become more complex While we already had a strong nightliner offering, the addition of MM Band Services significantly expands our capacity, allowing us to offer greater flexibility and more reliable support across both regions.”
Jeffrey Ringenier, CFO/COO op Pieter Smit Group, added: “MM Band Services is a high-quality business with a strong reputation and a fleet of 24 nightliners. This acquisition is about positioning. International tours increasingly move between the UK and mainland Europe, and since Brexit, that requires a different operational setup. With MM, we now have the right structure in place.”
Mike Moulds, Managing Director of MM Band Services, concluded: “Joining the Pieter Smit Croup allows us to grow while staying true to what we do best. I will be closely involved in supporting our clients and further strengthening the connection between Artist & Crew transport and European tour logistics. This gives us the opportunity to deliver a much more complete solution.”
