Ambassador Theatre Group Seeks Staff for Swansea Arena

Ambassador Theatre Group announces key roles at the new Swansea Arena.

Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has revealed the opening of several key full-time roles following the recent appointment of Lisa Mart as General Manager at the new, state-of-the-art venue, Swansea Arena.

The senior roles of Head of Marketing & Sales, Operations Manager, Technical & Building Manager and Conference & Events Manager at the new 3,500 capacity indoor Arena are now open for applications via careers.atg.co.uk.

Successful applicants will be part of a team that is expected to host 160 performances across music, comedy, esports, sport and conference events for an estimated 230,000 visitors each year.

The newly assembled team will be spearheaded by the venue’s vastly experienced General Manager, Lisa Mart (The Alexandra, New Wimbledon Theatre), as she comes to Swansea Arena with nine years within ATG behind her.

Initially based at New Wimbledon Theatre in 2012, working in Customer Experience Management, Lisa worked her way up through the company to the role of Theatre Director before moving to her most recent position at The Alexandra in Birmingham in 2016 where she managed the refurbishment and re-launch of the prominent 1,400 seat venue, picking up the ATG Leadership Award (2019) and the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce People Development Award (2020) in the process.

Swansea Arena General Manager Lisa Mart said: “Opening recruitment for these senior positions is a key step in the process of getting our doors open. It is an incredibly exciting opportunity to shape the venue for years to come; establishing our operational processes and developing our offer to a variety of audiences, in particular, the local community and visitors to Swansea. We are looking for individuals who are experts in their field and who will be committed to working together with myself to create something incredibly valuable to Swansea.”

Swansea Council Leader Rob Stewart welcomed the announcement: ”It’s great to see further key roles within Swansea’s new Arena being advertised. It’s a brilliant opportunity for people to be part of the new ATG team running our Arena. We are on track to complete the Arena and Copr Bay development by the autumn of this year.”

The development of the Arena will be a significant landmark within Swansea’s city centre and its £135m transformational Copr Bay Phase One project, which is being delivered by the Council working alongside Development Manager, RivingtonHark. Once complete, it will comprise the brand-new 3,500 capacity indoor arena and conference centre – next to Swansea Marina – as well as new independent restaurants, city centre apartments, a 1.1-acre coastal park, two new multi-storey car parks, and a new ‘gateway’ landmark pedestrian and cyclist bridge over Oystermouth Road, to provide a seamless passageway connecting the revived city-centre to Swansea’s Marina and its famed coastline.

Swansea City Centre is one of the largest urban transformations currently being delivered in Europe; over £1bn is being invested across the city, allowing Swansea to realise its potential to be one of the most vibrant places to live, work, visit and study in the UK.

The arena also forms part of the Swansea City and Waterfront Digital District project which is being part-funded by the £1.3bn Swansea Bay City Deal.
