From the 6 to 8 September, join the Backup Tech team and Partners at PLASA London as they continue to support industry professionals with practical advice and resources. Making their home on stand L26, the team will also be hosting two seminars during the show.
The first seminar will be held on the 6 September from 13.30 to 14.15 and is titled Talking Health & Welfare. Backup Tech’s Jess Allan will host the seminar and will be joined by Gemma Fletcher, Backup Ambassador and Mig Burgess, Backup Trustee plus Tiffany Hudson, Psychotherapist, along with representatives from BAPAM and Music Support. They will be discussing three important topics that have a real impact on people working in the live events industries: dealing with a lack of sleep; addiction and recovery; and witnessing a severe accident or death at work. There will be support and signposting available to attendees throughout the session.
The second seminar is called Building A Sustainable Live Events Workforce on the 7 from 15:30 to 16:15. This 45-minute seminar is hosted by Backup Chair Person, Lee Dennison and includes panellists Suzi Green, Backup Ambassador and founder of The BACK LOUNGE, plus Paul Jones from the UK Live Event Freelancers Forum, also a Backup Ambassador and Jon Cowley FCCA, Partner at David Howard Chartered Accountants.
This seminar will offer resources and explain best practice guidance to deliver useful support for events professionals, helping them build more resilient and sustainable careers. The seminar builds on the successful How to Become a Financially Savvy Freelancer series, and Backup has received funding for a second phase from LIVE Trust to support the ongoing development of the initiative which Paul and Suzi will be heading up.
“It’s not always the toughest who last decades in this industry,” said Green. “It’s the ones who protect themselves mentally, physically and financially, and who stay relevant by keeping their eyes open to the change that’s always happening.”
For the 2026 Innovation Awards, PLASA has once again pledged to donate profits from the entry fees directly to Backup Tech. These coveted awards are hugely respected throughout the industry and recognise next generation products and the people behind them.
This year, many of the Backup Tech Partners will also be exhibiting at PLASA. As Lee Dennison concludes, PLASA London is a fantastic opportunity for Backup Tech to join forces with other industry charities, associations and groups to raise awareness of resources, guidance and support. “Every year PLASA just gets better!” said Dennison. “We are grateful for the continued support the PLASA team offer and the opportunity the show gives us to meet with so many of our partners and colleagues.
