Fly By Nite pays tribute to David Coumbe

Fly By Nite remembers Managing Director David Coumbe, who has sadly passed away at the age of 68.

The sudden passing of David Coumbe has come as a huge shock to the Fly By Nite team and the wider live events and touring community. Coumbe was a much-loved colleague and highly respected leader, whose vision helped to build the foundations of the company’s long-term success.

Since its foundation in 1989, Coumbe had grown Fly By Nite into one of the world’s largest music production and logistics businesses supplying specialised vehicles and dedicated drivers across the music, entertainment and exhibition industries. Coumbe led the company to achieve Favourite Trucking Company and Favourite Rehearsal Studios at the TPi Awards on many occasions.

Coumbe’s legacy is most evident by Fly By Nite’s people and the management team is completely focused on taking all necessary steps to build on his legacy and ensure the continued success of the business. With this as the forefront of their mind, the Board is now in the process of appointing a new Managing Director and an announcement will be made in the near future.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our founder and Managing Director, David Coumbe,” Fly By Nite said. “David’s passing has come as a huge shock to all of us at Fly By Nite, as well as many of our clients, suppliers and industry friends. We would like to thank all those who have reached out over the last few days to offer their condolences at this sad time, the outpouring of love and support we have received from across the industry has helped us all through this difficult period.”

Coumbe was a trailblazer and a visionary with a remarkable work ethic, incredible commitment and passion for the industry, driving the highest of standards whilst always remaining true to his values. He was an incredibly humble man who shied away from the limelight his success attracted.

“Our collective commitment to maintain the highest standards and levels of service is in no doubt not least because it is what David would have wanted and expected of us,” Fly By Nite concluded.
