Marc-Antoine Pelletier is taking things a step further on the current tour by the Juno-nominated multi-instrumentalist Damien Robitaille. With Lighting not only supporting the music on stage, but also the subject of the songs themselves. With this in mind, Pelletier created a design that wraps Robitaille and the band in lighting from customised LED strips, and CHAUVET Professional COLORado 2 Solo fixtures, both from Viviane Giguère and the team at Softbox. Moving from high energy peaks to minimalistic moments, the lighting changes the dynamics of the stage to match the music, while always maintaining an intimate connection to the artist,…

The Spring Statement talks about stability and cautious optimism. But this is not a stable moment – and businesses will not be reassured by rhetoric after two years of relentless pressure. Across the UK, major brands and corporates are collapsing at pace. Confidence is fragile. Margins are exhausted. Investment has stalled. Consumers are under unprecedented strain. The cost of daily living remains high, household bills are rising again, and disposable income is at a low. When consumers pull back, our sector feels it first and hardest. Businesses cannot grow when customers are simply trying to get by. Business rates reform…
Looking ahead, what’s in store for Production Futures and the ON TOUR events? “2026 feels like a pivotal year for us. Our ON TOUR events will continue to connect industry with emerging talent, but they now sit within a much broader vision. Production Futures is increasingly recognised not just as an events organiser, but as a strategic partner helping shape the future of the sector. Getting on the road post-COVID was essential to proving the demand for what we do. That journey confirmed something important: Production Futures is far more than a careers fair, it’s a platform for visibility, opportunity…
When did product development begin? “During the development of the MAC One fixture in 2022/2023, we were already thinking about potential other family members for the MAC One family. Early in 2024, shortly after the shipping release of the MAC One fixture, the team could fully focus on the next family member, the MAC One Beam. So, initial concept investigations, including research of the LILI source, happened in 2022/2023, but the actual development started in early 2024.” What were the initial goals when it came to designing the MAC One Beam? “We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received…
It was a pleasure to welcome our members to the Production Services Association AGM at the Pestana Hotel, Chelsea in February. There’s something energising about getting our community in the same room: freelancers, employees and business owners. People who understand the pace, pressure and pride that comes with making live production happen. We heard feedback, shared progress, and left with a mandate: make membership even stronger and even more valuable. Thank you to everyone who attended, voted and contributed in-person or online. With membership standing at over 2,500, the conversation reflected an evolving expectation from the members. 2025 saw investment…
Rotherham rock band The Reytons headlined their biggest ever gig outside Yorkshire when they played OVO Arena Wembley. Bringing South Yorkshire to the capital was a labour of love for the band and their production team. Doncaster-based Infinity Production Group was the lead technology supplier, with Insert Productions’ Connor Hill fulfilling the role of Production Manager – continuing a long-standing relationship, stretching back over several years from when Hill’s former band The Novus played in a pub which The Reytons used to regularly drink at. The creative brief was to produce a football-themed stage set, with lighting and video design…
How long has the Wavefront Precision been a part of the Martin Audio line-up? “Wavefront Precision has been part of the Martin Audio family since 2017, when the WPC and WPM were introduced as the first two models in the series. Two further formats followed in 2019 – WPS and WPL – completing a four-model family that scales from compact corporate work all the way up to arena-scale touring. That breadth of coverage is a deliberate part of the design philosophy: the same core optimisation principles, applied across different throw distances and SPL requirements. It’s now the best-selling line array…
At what point did balancing career and parenting become a conversation you felt the industry needed to have more openly? “For many years juggling parenting and managing a high workload was something I accepted as normal. I was in events before I was a parent; I accepted it as a way of life. I knew parenting would be hard and I knew working in events was demanding, but it wasn’t until I became a single parent in 2017 that I understood how difficult managing the professional and parenting workloads would be – not just in terms of time, tiredness and…
Two years in the making, Luciano premiered ALIVE – his most ambitious tour to date – at Art Basel Miami, supported by a fully bespoke rig and tour support from Gravity Rigs. Raw, improvised, and driven by emotion, ALIVE demonstrates how sound, light, machines, and human energy merge in real time, creating a performance that exists only in the moment. The Swiss – Chilean DJ and producer approached Gravity Rigs in late 2023. Following a disastrous flood in his studio that destroyed almost everything, Luciano rose from the proverbial ashes to pay tribute to 30 plus years of songwriting, emotion,…
GLP report increasing demand this summer and fall for GLP’s mighty MAD MAXX skytracker, billed as the world’s first super-fat LED beam and designed to emulate the legacy 3kW and 7kW xenon searchlights of yesteryear. With a massive 750mm beam diameter, promoters, production designers and creatives generally have been incorporating the MAD MAXX into stage sets and scenography to provide an additional wow factor. The fixture utilises 19 individually controllable 90W white LEDs, generating a total output of up to 68,000 lumens. Those pixels can be controlled individually or grouped into three segments (centre, inner ring and outer ring) for…
English actor and singer Murray Head is a long-time residence of France and somewhat of a national treasure in his adopted homeland where his hit song Say It Ain’t So, Joe has become a national staple. In preparation for an 80th birthday concert on 5 March at the 2,000-seat Olympia Hall in Paris and other dates in France, Murray took his seven-piece band to the Micropolis in the eastern French city of Besançon on 14 February for a gig that also provided the opportunity for two days of pre-tour technical rehearsals. “I’d already heard about NEXO’s new Alpha+ system which…

Art has a way of feeding on itself, inspiring the creative spark in those who encounter it, even as it crosses different times, places and genres. Just ask Nico Riot and his collaborator Camille from Clair Obscur. They were developing set design ideas for dark-synth icon Perturbator’s 2025 fall and winter EU tour, which recently concluded at the iconic Le Bataclan, when they saw that their client was doing a photo shoot at the Rudolph Tegner Museum and Statue Park. Viewing the photos from the site, just north of Copenhagen, the designers could see the same creative forces at work…

Bogotá-based People Light has recently upgraded its inventory with a landmark investment in Martin Audio’s large-format WPL – the first system of its kind in Colombia.
