Few live events blur the line between sport, music and art quite like Art on Ice. Hosted from 27 February to the 6 March across three arenas in Switzerland, the internationally celebrated ice performance show combines world‑class figure skating with live music.
At the heart of the 2026 production was 300m² of Absen JP8 Pro LED. Habegger and NicLen Switzerland were chosen to supply and install Absen’s visual backdrop to the ice. From the stands, the LED screens became an extension of the choreography itself, providing flowing colour, texture and light moving in rhythm with skaters and musicians without distracting from the action.
Working closely with the production team, Habegger ensured the installation met the exacting technical and aesthetic standards required for an event of this scale, while NicLen Switzerland provided the dry hire of the full LED screen solution, including Absen LED and Brompton processing, that enabled flexibility and creative freedom. The JP8 Pro’s robust design supported efficient setup and dependable operation, allowing the focus to remain firmly on performance and spectacle.
As international music stars James Bay and Jess Glynne took to the stage, the JP8 Pro delivered rich colour depth and smooth motion, creating cinematic visuals that amplified the emotional tone of each performance. On the ice, elite skaters including Yuna Aoki, Madison Chock & Evan Bates, and Swiss favourite Lukas Britschgi performed against crisp, dynamic content that enhanced the storytelling of every routine. Whether subtle atmospheric visuals or bold graphic moments, the LED elements felt seamlessly integrated into the show’s creative vision.
“Our goal for Art on Ice was to deliver a product that would make the audience feel rather than consciously notice, and Absen proved to be the perfect partner in achieving that,” said Andy Ryter, Director of Sales at Habbegger. “The JP8 Pro delivered beautifully fluid, vibrant imagery that moved naturally with the music and skating, helping to elevate the atmosphere of the show. We were delighted with the outcome and the way the visuals contributed to such a memorable audience experience.”
“Art on Ice is a uniquely demanding environment where visuals must perform flawlessly against reflective surfaces, complex lighting and constant motion,” shared Debbie Zheng, Director of AbsenLive. “JP8 Pro was designed precisely for these conditions, delivering the brightness, contrast and image stability needed to maintain clarity for both live audiences and broadcast capture. Even through fast‑paced scene changes and tightly choreographed transitions, the visuals remained smooth, sharp and completely reliable.”
