Yamaha has launched its new MGX series digital mixers, which combine the highly successful legacy of the MG audio mixer range with the latest features and – in a first for Yamaha – video capture and streaming.
For many years, Yamaha’s compact MG series mixers have delivered the perfect balance of features, usability and cost-effectiveness for small-to-medium sized venues, live musicians, conferencing, education and recording applications.
Making its world debut at the NAMM Show 2026, the new all digital MGX series ushers in a new era of MG excellence.
Driven by Yamaha’s pursuit of ‘True Sound’ – which faithfully captures and reproduces every audio nuance – MGX mixers feature an impressive expansion of functionality for the ever-changing landscape of sound reinforcement and production.
Available in four models, the 12/16 channel MGX12 and MGX16 are joined by the MGX12V and MGX16V, which feature an HDMI-USB audio/video interface with capture and pass-through functions.
This enables users to simultaneously capture video to a PC or Mac and record or stream it, together with the audio.
All MGX models feature premium quality microphone preamps on mic/line combo inputs, which achieve an impressive 86 dB gain range with ultra-low distortion, plus eight line and Bluetooth audio inputs, two XLR outs, six or eight TRS OMNI outs and four headphone ports.
Dual Main/Sub USB ports allow a wide range of audio sources and devices to be integrated with the MGX series.
The main USB port allows up to 22 tracks of recording/playback with the MGX16/16V and 18 with the MGX12/12V, while the sub USB port allows two tracks of recording/playback.
All four MGX series mixers also feature up to 16 tracks of audio recording and two tracks of playback direct to/from a microSD card.
With powerful DSP providing highly creative tools – including noise gate, compressor, EQ, delay, reverb, amp simulator and voice changer – and latency-free monitoring, MGX series mixers are supplied with a suite of Steinberg music production software.
And it’s all in a rugged package which weighs just 5.0 kg for maximum portability.
By adding from Yamaha’s comprehensive ranges of speakers, microphones, headphones and more, users can build a system which satisfies a wide range of audio and hybrid video production demands.
