Two of ASM Global’s European team feature on Billboard’s International Power Players List 2022

James Harrison, Programming Director at ASM Global (UK) and Jenny Blomqvist, Event Sales Director at ASM Global (Sweden) have both been selected for Billboard International Power Players List, comprising industry leaders and trailblazers based outside of the United States, selected by Billboard magazine editors.

Honorees include talent from all arms of the industry from label executives, music publishers and entrepreneurs, to artist managers and concert promoters.

James Harrison joined ASM Global in 2017, and has been instrumental in the planning and re-opening of ASM Global venues in the UK, marking the anticipated return to live after the pandemic. The creation of a central programming resource for ASM Global’s vast portfolio of venues in the UK was effective in providing promoters, producers, agents, and managers with a single point to reach ASM Global’s arenas which are located all across the country.

Harrison has also hired a full programming team, who, together bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to deliver a packed and exciting programme, working hand-in-hand with venue managers and teams. Now full steam ahead for 2022, Harrison is underway with ASM Global’s bumper year of events – a mixture of those long rescheduled shows, and long awaited tours – and looking forward to what promises to be an amazing 2023 for the industry.

Jenny Blomqvist has been with ASM Global since 2008, taking up her current role in 2019. Based in Stockholm, Blomqvist heads up the team that is programming all the ASM Global venues in the market, such as Friends Arena, Tele2 Arena and Avicii Arena. Blomqvist has been a core part of the team through huge expansion and growth in the Swedish market.

This includes the acquisition of the Södra Teatern in 2021, and a major change in naming rights when the most famous building in Stockholm, “The Globe,” was renamed Avicii Arena. The new name was a tribute to one of the greatest Swedish musical talents, and the building is now a hub for initiatives focused on young people’s mental health. As the world reopens, Jenny and her team are continually working alongside promoters to bring back live to its biggest and best, confirming world-renowned artists including Lady Gaga, and The Rolling Stones for the Friends Arena, Stockholm in 2022.

Chris Bray, EVP Europe at ASM Global said: “A huge congratulations to James and Jenny from all of us at ASM Global. This recognition from the Billboard International Power Players List is truly deserved, and a testament to their hard work, creativity and dedication, especially through a challenging past two years. James and Jenny, along with their teams, have been instrumental in handling the complexities of rescheduled events, as well as slotting in the many new shows we have to look forward to for the year ahead. We look forward to celebrating many more successes with the team in the future.”

Next week, ASM Global will be attending ILMC, as part of a new partnership to dramatically expand the music business conference’s Alia Dann Swift Bursary Scheme, which promotes and encourages the next generation of young executive talent. Marie Lindqvist, SVP Operations at ASM Global (Europe) will be taking part in the The Venue’s Venue: Reconnect & Reopen panel. On Thursday, Tom Lynch, Group Commercial Director and SVP Europe at ASM Global (Europe) will be speaking at New Builds: The Venue Boom, and on Friday John Drury, VP and General Manager at OVO Arena Wembley will join the GEI: Stepping into a Greener Arena panel. Both James Harrison and Jenny Blomqvist will be in attendance at ILMC, alongside the ASM Global team.
