After singer Loreen’s victory at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, in 2024 it is once again up to Sweden to host the gigantic show production, which will take place in Malmö Arena.

German lighting innovator ROXX is the official technology supplier for the contest, which has been organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956.

Over 170 ROXX CLUSTER S2 line the 340 square metres of LED screen in the background of the cross-shaped stage, which is set in the middle of the audience for 360-degree performances. The once again set design was created by Florian Wieder, while Fredrik Stormby developed the lighting and content design for the massive show. All ROXX fixtures were supplied by Creative Technology.

With a total of 37 performances to be designed, the flexibility of the applied lighting solutions was naturally a key priority. As a pixel-mappable strobe / wash light, the CLUSTER S2 with its massive central high-power strobe line, four additional slim strobe lines and two RGB LED panels combines an enormous variety ranging from strobe effects to subtle eye-candy glamour looks.

Being a technical partner of the event, the ROXX team was invited to Malmö and given a technical tour of the Malmö Arena with ESC’s Senior Technical Director Ola Melzig and Joan Lyman Melzig in the run-up to the events.

“We were super impressed by the sheer size of the production as well as the extremely complex and rich stage, lighting and video design,” commented ROXX Managing Director Michael Herweg. “A massive thank you to lighting and screen content designer Fredrik Stormby for choosing our fixtures. We would also like to thank set designer Florian Wieder, Creative Technology and Mikael Uddh from our Swedish distribution partner mLite . We are proud to see our products support this extraordinary show.”
