Montreal-based PixMob returned to the production fold for the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 at San Siro Stadium, marking its third Games collaboration following Sochi 2014 and Paris 2024.
In Milan, PixMob’s LED technology was integrated into both the fan experience and the performance scenography itself. The company deployed its signature MVT “Human Video Screen” technology, outfitting over 65,000 attendees with LED wristbands that transformed the audience into a collective canvas of immersive visual effects.
The visuals were designed to seamlessly blend the ceremony’s theatrical sequences and cultural storytelling—from swirling musical notes rippling through the crowd during operatic performances to effects inspired by Italian art and history.
Beyond the audience, PixMob’s technology also powered 14 modular light boxes filled with performers. Each structure activated LED effects in unison with the wristbands worn by fans, all in sync to the pace and energy of performances by Mariah Carey and Andrea Bocelli, among other international superstars.
Founded in Quebec in 2006, PixMob first gained international attention through early collaborations blending LED technology with performance and live action, including the 2010 launch of Microsoft Kinect with Cirque du Soleil. Since then, PixMob has pioneered large-scale immersive lighting, most notably creating the world’s first “Human TV Screen” for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour.
Twenty years later, PixMob has fundamentally changed how live entertainment is experienced — by turning the crowd itself into the biggest creative canvas in every venue. The technology has evolved dark audiences into fully immersive, fan-powered experiences — placing people at the heart of the show and redefining what live moments can feel like at scale.
That spirit of innovation extends far beyond the stage. Today, PixMob partners with more than 35 professional sports teams, transforming gameday into fully immersive environments and deepening fan participation in real time. The company also continues to advance sustainability in live events through a circular approach to its wearable tech, while expanding immersion beyond wristbands to permanent technology — most recently with its NOVA LED armrest at Intuit Dome, the state-of-the-art new home of the NBA’s LA Clippers, which gamifies the fan experience and reshapes how the crowd can interact with the live sport and entertainment experience. The products there are hard wired and no batteries are used.
From iconic ball drops at Coachella to LED wearables worn at the shows of artists like Coldplay and Beyoncé, PixMob’s technology has been experienced by tens of millions of fans across more than 10,000 events, cementing its role as a driving force in the evolution of live entertainment.
