Ape Labs has introduced VEGA, a battery-powered LED floodlight that combines broad room illumination with multipixel effects. The German-made fixture features 225 LEDs and 25 controllable pixels, bringing RGB colour mixing and 2700 K warm white light to a compact housing compatible with existing Maxi 2+ TourBox cases.
VEGA provides a 120-degree beam angle, CRI 90 and a manufacturer-specified output of approximately 570 lux at one meter. An included magnetic frost filter diffuses the pixels for a softer wash. Users can adjust colour, brightness, effects and programs through the Ape Labs control ecosystem.
Control options include the Ape Labs remote, the Ape Labs smartphone app for iOS and Android, and wireless DMX. App and wireless DMX control require Ape Labs CONNECT, which is not included. DMX modes comprise 4-channel 8-bit RGBWW, 7-channel Ape Labs mode, 8-channel alphanumeric mode and 100-channel control of all 25 pixels. VEGA also supports MusikMode and automatic signal repeating between fixtures.
The fanless, IP65-rated aluminium fixture has a manufacturer-rated battery runtime of approximately 12 hours and a replaceable 12 V, 55 Wh Ni-MH battery. Ape Labs specifies flicker-free operation above 2 kHz. VEGA weighs 1.85 kg and includes a wide yoke with a central M10 mounting hole. Compatible dimensions and charging contacts allow VEGA and Maxi 2+ fixtures to share a TourBox case.
Character presets launch as a beta preview. VEGA can display letters, numbers and symbols, allowing multiple fixtures to spell words. At launch, characters are set individually in the app. Ape Labs plans a December 2026 app update to simplify character selection and switching between pixel and character modes. Free software updates are provided for fixtures, CONNECT and the smartphone apps.
