TANNOY

Manufacturer (July 2008)

The new VQ series from Tannoy is a range of revolutionary loudspeakers designed for any application where precise directional control, outstanding sonic performance and high SPLs are critical issues.

Utilising precision engineering and design, the VQ series can produce enough power and clarity to be used individually unlike traditional line array solutions, making them a potentially more convenient choice for touring/live applications.
While the VQ series was initially designed with fixed installation in mind (installs include Ibiza’s premier club, Es Paradis), there has already been a great deal of interest from the tour sector, with VQ used to great effect at the Cannes Film Festival in May and Glastonbury’s Dance Village in June.
VQ incorporates a unique driver technology to radiate a coherent single point source (400Hz – 23kHz) for superior pattern control when coupled to a Point Source Waveguide (PSW).
This technology allows the specified beam-width to be maintained within a /-5 degree tolerance, a huge performance advantage when compared to acoustic sources which consist of an HF compression driver and separate midrange driver.
The VQ’s high sensitivity ensures exceptional SPL levels can be achieved with a very modest amount of amplifier power. As an example, the VQ60 will produce 115dB for 1W; and 138dB (144dB peak) for only 200W of amplifier power.
