OUT BOARD
Rigging and Trussing
Out Board are UK-based originators and suppliers of live entertainment and event production innovations in live surround sound engineering and other technologies for more than a decade.
Out Board has recently revamped its entire range of chain-hoist controllers to include alternative versions and added functionality. The new LV-Series consists of 12-, eight- and six-channel low voltage controllers for traditional Columbus McKinnon Lodestar-type hoists which use separate control and power. The DV-Series comprises a four- and eight-channel direct controller for Verlinde style hoists or the growing number of CM direct control Lodestar and Prostar variants.
Out Board has been careful to maintain compatibility with its previous classic CM low-voltage and DM direct controller ranges in terms of Socapex multicore control and power wiring configurations. Out Board fits the superior Ceep version of the industry-standard Socapex19-style connector, providing three channels of combined control and power per connector in the LV6 and LV12 units to match cabling standards adopted by a host of major rigging companies like Star Events Group, HSL, Vertigo and Global Rigging among others.
The new LV8 eight-channel controller meets an alternative market demand to provide four channels of control and power separately on two pairs of male and female Ceep19 connectors respectively. The LV8 multicore wiring standard derives from detailed consultation with early adopters UK Rigging and PRG Europe who now both have substantial and growing LV8 inventories.
Out Board’s new DV8 delivers eight channels of phase-reversing direct-control hoist power on a pair of four-channel Ceep19 connecters, while the DV4 provides four channels of phase-reversing switched power on four red C-Forms. As well as seeing significantly increased sales of both low-voltage and direct-controllers across Europe and Asia, Out Board director Dave Haydon notes that the latter standard is now being added to the inventories of long-established UK event contractors such as Starlight Design, Trans-Sport and Star Events.
There is also a new range of Out Board RC remote handsets, featuring more compact and ergonomic profiles plus the addition of an integral E-Stop function. Every rackmount LV and DV unit now sports this feature too, which works in conjunction with Out Board’s linkable remote E-Stop system. There are also truss-mount splitters to convert multicore feeds to individual C-Form control or power circuits. Coming soon is the LV4 low-voltage controller with C-Form power and control connectors.
