At this year's ABTT Show, Unusual Rigging received the ABTT Engineering/Rigging Product of the Year award for its new winch, Revolution. Development of Revolution started in 2001 and instrumental in the plan to produce a product that would be subject to stringent European manufacturing and testing criteria were Unusual's winch and chain hoist manufacturing partners in Germany.
Revolution is presented within standard 52cm x 52cm aluminium truss and travels in conventional roadboxes. A comprehensive set of accessories and diverters enable the winches to be easily included within truss runs, mothergrids and truss legs with the wire leaving the unit at the required angle.
Configuration is flexible, hence making Revolution relevant to a variety of applications. Single or multiple use within truss runs with either single or double wires on each winch. The winch can also be used from the floor. Running at 3m/sec with a 300kg safe working load at a factor of safety of 5:1, or man riding with a 150kg safe working load at a safety factor of 10:1, this extremely fast winch has a single 6mm diameter wire travel of 30. A double wire configuration delivers 14m of travel. Self weight of the winch is 200kg.
Revolution is now part of Unusual's hire fleet and such is the demand for the product that more units are being fast tracked through the specialist manufacturing facility in Germany for arrival late summer. New versions with additional options on travel, loading and speed are now in development for delivery late this year.
