 <description><![CDATA[March 12-18 saw the 27th annual South by Southwest music conference (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, take place. More than 2,000 acts from 49 countries played on over 100 stages around the buzzing city for the week-long festival. SXSW was birthed as a way to promote unsigned music artists, yet today the festival gains the attention of well-established, international stars, drawing crowds from across the globe. The event began in 1987 and hosted a mere 700 music industry delegates. SXSW also has an interactive film festival which focusses on emerging directors. In 2013, almost 20,000 attendees were registered. TPi’s Kelly Murray headed to the cowboy state to find out what this huge inner city, multi-venue festival offered the technical live industry. with key lighting and audio sponsors, SXSW 2013 had never sounded nor looked better.<br/>]]></description>
