Rigger of the Year

Winner: Gianluca Ganapini

Italian stallion Gianluca Ganapini — known to many as ‘Gana’ — made his grand entry into the business of show back in 1986 as a stagehand.

Within three years he had made his move into working as a rigger — the speciality that has since defined him within the touring and events world.

In 1994, Gana began working for British-based productions with the likes of Peter Rayel and Lars Brogaard, on tours by Eros Ramazzotti, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart and Supertramp, and subsequently handled the rigging for the Dixie Chicks, Westlife, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Anastacia, Take That, McFly, Muse, Razorlight, Madonna, the Eagles and many other leading artists.

Last year, Gana, 40, once again worked with the Eagles and Madonna, as well as helping to make the Dancing On Ice tour go without a slip.

Runners up:

Gabe Wood • Jez Craddick • Harry Box • Pete Rayel • Johnny ‘Hotpants’ Ashton
