Yamaha’s free StageMix iPad app has been an extraordinary success since its launch in September 2010.
Yamaha has been one of the first major audio manufacturers to fully embrace the advantages that the iPad offers sound engineers. The success of StageMix is proved by it being downloaded more than 130 times every day since it was first announced at PLASA 2010.
Connected via the iPad’s built-in WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and a wireless connection point linked to the mixing console via Cat5 cable, the straightforward, intuitive graphic interface of StageMix allows the user to easily mix stage sound via an M7CL or LS9, even if the mixing console is at the front of house position.
StageMix 2.0 adds significant functionality, including:
· Head Amp gain control for each input channel.
· Scene memory management, including Store, Recall, Scene Titles and Comments.
These new functions complement the existing array of controls, which include control of input channel faders, on/off, parametric EQs and channel cue; Sends on Faders, mix master faders; mix bus on/off, parametric EQs and cue; Last Cue/Mix Cue Mode, Clear All Cues and graphic EQs. Mix parameters that can be viewed include input channel names and meters; mix/matrix bus names; mix bus meters and EQ input and output meters.
“StageMix has already proven to be extremely popular with end users,” says Nick Cook, European Marketing Director, Yamaha Commercial Audio. “The new functions in Version 2.0 add make remotely controlling an M7CL or LS9 now even easier and faster.”
Available from the end of July, StageMix 2.0 will continue to be free to download from Apple’s iTunes store for both the M7CL* and LS9.
