Poland Takes Up EU Presidency And Parties With Nexo

Friday 15th July - 14.15pm

At the start of July, Poland assumed the Presidency Of the Council Of the European Union, a role it will hold for the next six months.

Celebrations culminated in the concert TU Warszawa (Here Warsaw), which was staged in Plac Defilad (Parade Square), watched by many thousands and, of course, millions more on TV.

Four stages were erected  for the event, with a diverse range of musical styles on offer: from the classical with Sinfonia Varsovia, jazz from Kenny G, Leszek Mozdzer, Tomasz Stanko, Chris Botti and Manhattan Transfer , to rock with Michael Bolton and Dolores O’Riordan. Shortly before one o’clock, Warsaw’s inhabitants were treated to a magnificent fireworks display, accompanied by Wojciech Kilar’s music. The Palace of Culture and Science was temporarily ‘engulfed in flames’, only to disappear a while later into the darkness. The final performance of the concert was given by British trip-hop legend Tricky.

The NEXO line array system for the main stage was provided by POGO Art, Wroclaw, one of the very first companies in Poland to provide touring NEXO systems, distributed by Lauda-Audio. The main L/R clusters consisted of 16x GEO D10 and 9x CD18 each side. Frontfills consisted of 10x PS10-R2.  Additional outfill was provided by a GEO S8 system  using 32x GEO S8 elements.  All the systems were driven by NEXO NXAMP4x1, NXAMP4x4 and CAMCO Vortex and Tecton amps.

“For this kind of event, the PA system has to be very efficient and flexible at the same time,” says Slawomir Pogorzala, POGO Art’s owner.  “When you have a jazz ensemble on stage, followed  5 minutes later by a loud rock band, all going live for TV, you have no time to change the system – everything has to be set up in seconds and sound great.”

Eight consoles were used, including 3 x Yamaha M7CLs, 3 x Yamaha PM5Ds, and a Yamaha LS9. All PM5D FOH consoles were connected through Dante protocol for quick and stable communication.
