Yamaha Creates A Sound Spectacle

Since its launch in 2008, the SB168-ES stage box has been a tremendous success for Yamaha, seeing a significant uptake in a range of venues. Used either with the M7CL-48ES or the ‘standard’ version of any Yamaha digital mixing console (plus an MY series Ethersound interface card), it is a perfect digital solution for regional theatres like Spectacles Onesiens - removing the need for a copper multicore, considerably easing stage setups and maximising audio quality.
 
As a popular provincial venue, Spectacles Onesiens has to be versatile and the M7CL48-ES and three SB168-ES join Yamaha LS9-32 and O1V-96 digital mixing consoles, plus a Nexo loudspeaker system, in bringing the best quality sound to the venue.
 
Depending on the production, the M7CL can be used for front of house and the LS9 for monitors, the M7CL can do both or - for the annual Festival Les Creatives - the console is used for monitors and a Yamaha PM5D hired in for FOH duties.
 
“It was important for us to have a system that is versatile and can be used in a number of different configurations,” says technical manager Jean-Daniel Garcia. “Yamaha and Nexo are international standards and we have used them for over 10 years, so Yamaha was the obvious choice when adding to our inventory of mixing solutions.”
 
He continues, “Yamaha digital consoles are easy to use and, of course, very reliable. Once the system was set up it has proved very straightforward to use for our technical staff and visiting engineers. Everyone at the venue is very happy with the sound and they have added a new dimension to our technical inventory.”
