ADLIB Applies Lake® Science To The Script With LM 26

The “Science and Faith” tour, now currently in Australia, culminated the UK leg with The Script’s biggest production to date at London’s O2 Arena. Adlib provided all the sound equipment for both FoH and monitor systems based around an L’Acoustics K1 PA system.

Adlib also supplied no less than seven LM 26 Digital Audio Loudspeaker Processors from Lake for FoH and monitor system processing, along with a number of Lab.gruppen PLM 10000Q Powered Loudspeaker Management systems to drive the wedges on stage.
 
Adlib’s Tony Szabo, who acted as system tech for the UK/Ireland leg of the tour, explained that the LM 26s were used for FoH EQ and time alignment. “We had three devices at FoH for general EQ and four at stage next to the amp racks to handle system zoning. We ran TAC4 fibre optic cable from FoH to stage, which we used with Cisco network switches in order to have a solid network with complete redundancy. As is our usual practice at Adlib, we ran AES into the Lake units with analogue backup. The automatic switchover to the analogue backup is a godsend – it’s one less thing to worry about. The input matrix section makes it easy to reconfigure sends on the fly.”
 
Regarding the LM 26’s Dante® capabilities, Szabo admitted that they had “dabbled” with Dante on tour – “dipped our toes in the Dante water, so to speak!” but had yet to exploit it fully. “There is no doubt that having Dante built in to the LM 26 makes it an even more attractive proposition than it already is. We’ve not implemented it fully yet, but are really looking forward to the moment when that will happen – in all likelihood over the summer.”
 
Szabo confirmed that the LM 26 has become Adlib’s system processor of choice. “We’ve been using various flavours of Lake processing for over ten years and have always been delighted with them,” he noted. “LM 26 has all the best features of the legacy models that we’ve come to expect – the quality of the A/D and D/A converters and clocking is the best you can get – and there are a number of new capabilities such as extra AES inputs, gigabit network ports and of course Dante redundancy. The user interface of the Lake Controller software is the best on the market – stripped down to the essentials and so fast and easy to use – and the wireless side of things just gets better with each release. No other DSP manufacturer even gets close to the speed and sonic perfection of the Lake DSP. In fact, all things considered, I can’t think of a single reason why I wouldn’t want to use LM 26 all the time on every tour!”
