Audio-Technica Alternative Christmas Tune Competition Winner Announced

10 February 2011 - 11:32 GMT

Audio-Technica has revealed that its Alternative Christmas Tune competition – which ran during the 2010 festive season – attracted more than 10 000 views for the videos submitted by entrants to Audio-Technica’s YouTube channel.

Following the casting of more than 1500 votes for the six finalists (shortlisted by producer and chairman of the Music Producers Guild Steve Levine), Zebedee Budworth’s Astropets emerged as the ultimate winner, claiming the grand prize of £500 worth of Audio-Technica products of his choice.

Of the finalists, Steve Levine said, “I was really impressed with the standard and variety of the entries to the Alternative Christmas Tune competition. From the quirky to the carefully crafted, the tracks demonstrated again what a breadth of musical talent the UK has to offer. It made the shortlisting process very tough, but great fun. And Zebedee’s entry was a worthy winner – even though I never thought I’d hear banjos on a Christmas record.”

Audio-Technica senior UK marketing manager Harvey Roberts said, “We were extremely pleased both with the quality and quantity of entries and the number of views and votes that our Alternative Christmas Tune competition attracted. I’d like to congratulate Zebedee on his win, and on creating such a unique and engaging track and video – as Steve says, he is a deserving winner.”
