Ingenious VCTs invest in 80s Rewind North festival.

Following the success of last year’s top retro music event, the 80s Rewind Festival, organisers have confirmed plans to expand the brand into Scotland with the launch of a sister festival - 80s Rewind North, after receiving a £1 million cash injection from the Ingenious Entertainment VCTs (www.ingeniousvcts.co.uk).

This cash injection represents one of the more recent investments made by the Ingenious Entertainment VCTs, which gives music and entertainment fans the chance to invest in their favourite music festivals, live events, exhibitions and TV shows.

80s Rewind North will be held at Scone Palace in Perthshire from 29th – 31st July 2011 and will build on the success of last summer’s Rewind Festival in Henley-on-Thames, which attracted more than 40,000 music fans across the two-day event. The August 2010 festival sold over 50 per cent. more tickets than in 2009.

The new Scotland event is expected to achieve similar success with the recently announced line-up including The Human League, Tony Hadley, Rick Astley, Kim Wilde, Bananarama, Hue & Cry and a special one off reunion of the Scottish band The Bluebells.

The £1 million investment from the Ingenious Entertainment VCTs has been used to secure the new Scottish venue and promote the event. The funding will also be used for festival facilities and exciting attractions such as a giant fun fair, a silent disco.

Paul Bedford, Investment Director at Ingenious, said: “The massive success of the Henley event has confirmed that further investment in the festival’s expansion is a positive move for our Entertainment VCTs.
“This latest funding is just the first step in our plans to support the roll out of the Rewind brand internationally. There is already strong interest to launch the first 80s Rewind Festival in Holland and talks are also underway to take it to Australia.

“The 80s music revival is still very much alive and kicking, with demand for Rewind Festival tickets growing year on year. Music fans in Scotland and the North of England will get the opportunity to see their favourite 80s stars perform classics from this era right on their doorstep.”

Ingenious VCTs have already invested in a range of successful festivals and entertainment venues including:

• Creamfields, the country’s leading dance festival, this year attracting over 80,000 people across the weekend and was voted ‘Best Festival’ at the 2010 Music Week Awards, ahead of Glastonbury, V Festival, T in the Park, Reading and Leeds Festivals.

• Jongleurs, the High Street comedy club franchise, which received a £2 million investment from the Ingenious Entertainment VCTs in October 2010 to fund expansion plans for Jongleurs Live in Newcastle, Leeds and Leicester.

• Golf Live, an interactive golf event held at Stoke Park, which attracted celebrity sports stars including Colin Montgomerie, captain of Europe’s triumphant 2010 Ryder Cup team.

• Taste Festivals, the well established and successful food and wine events featuring a number of famous chefs including Gary Rhodes and Antony Worrall Thompson.
