The Prince’s Trust Trusts Bandit
13 December 2010 10:36 GMT
The annual Prince’s Trust Concert in London and lighting designer superb Simon Tutchener called on Bandit Lites and CE Lester Cobrin to supply the illumination needs for the 2010 gathering of true English Royalty along side the worlds leading rock royalty.
Since 1976, this event is one of the premier happenings in the music world, raising money to assist the young jobless people in the UK. The show has long been an attraction to the best of the best and this year was no exception.
Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen seemed to anchor the evening with a veritable smorgasbord of superstars to assist. Eric Clapton, Status Quo, Phil Collins, Mike and the Mechanics, Jamie Cullum, Tom Jones, Alison Moyet, Midge Ure, Tom Chaplin and others served up an evening of memorable performances to the royal couple, Prince Charles and Camilla. The evening has hosted by the always hilarious Dame Edna Everage and Rob Brydon. The event was masterfully run by production manager to the stars Kevin Hopgood. As with all Hopgood events, the Trust Concert was flawless.
Tutchener worked his extraordinary magic using Martin MAC 2000 Washes, MAC 2000 Profiles, ETC Source 4 Lekos and a web of Thomas trussing, all controlled by a pair of Grand MA Consoles. Tutchener is the master of making the most of whatever kit he has at his disposal, and this event was no exception. Every song and every artist was accented as hit after hit rolled off the stage on November 17th at the Royal Albert Hall.
From the opening chords of Status Quo’s Rockin’ All over the World to the final notes of Queens’s anthem We Will Rock You, the night was alive with energy! The musicians seemed to feed off of one another as each offered up some of their finest material, and Tutchener tastefully illuminated it all.
Through the years, the Prince’s Trust Concert has raised millions of pounds to assist the youth in the UK and this event is always looked forward to by the community as a whole. Bandit Lites is very proud to be a part of such a phenomenal charity event and works with the Tutchener and the Trust to ensure the highest quality of show is delivered. Bandit looks forward to participating in this cause for many years to come.
