The UK Festival Awards, in association with Music Week, are proud to
announce that DF Concerts CEO and the man behind T In The Park festival, Geoff Ellis, will be honoured with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Ellis will be honoured with the award at the annual ceremony which takes place on Thursday, 18th November 2010 at London’s indigO2 at The O2. Ellis’ presentation will round off an evening of awards celebrating the achievements of the UK’s festival industry including 14 publicly-voted award categories including Best Major Festival, Best Toilets and the Headline Performance Award.

The creative force behind T in The Park, Connect, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and The Edge Festival, Geoff Ellis will be the much deserving recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the UK Festival Awards 2010. Taking place at indigO2 at The O2 on Thursday 18th November the award, presented in association with Music Week magazine, recognises the hugely successful efforts of a man who has been at the top of the UK’s live entertainment industry ladder for many years. Taking charge of Scotland’s most popular summer festival as well as promoting the Scottish tour dates of many internationally renowned names, Ellis has the professional responsibility and satisfaction of directing a vibrant music scene. With crowds often cited by bands as being the loudest and most appreciative in Europe Scottish music fans should feel safe in the knowledge that such a dedicated individual
continues to encourage an A grade level of entertainment within the country.

James Drury, Managing Director of UK Festival Awards Ltd said: “Under Geoff’s leadership, T in the Park has grown into Scotland’s largest and most successful festival winning numerous accolades, including two UK Festival Awards for Best Major Festival. Not only do artists such as Brandon Flowers of the Killers and Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon say it is their favourite festival, but Geoff also takes great care to heed the requests of that other vital element – the fans – whose enjoyment and safety is at the forefront of his thinking, and as a result is why T in the Park is such an innovator. It is Geoff’s charismatic leadership, dogged attention to detail and inspirational good humour which makes him such a worthy recipient of the UK Festival Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Also presented both during the daytime conference and evening ceremony will be a further 20 awards. These include Best Major, Medium and Small Festival, Best Dance Event, Best Family Friendly, Best Headline Appearance and, of course, Best Toilets. With 14 of the awards voted for entirely by the public, the winners will truly illustrate which
events the UK festival-going public believe deserve to hold these titles. This year’s ceremony will be presented by BBC 6Music’s funk fanatic and a man who is no stranger to many festival appearances himself: Craig Charles.
