A showcase of exciting performances accompanied by stunning light design and staging.
After 26 years, the Night of the Proms European Tour, kicking off at the Antwerp Sportpaleis has perfected the formula for pleasing all ages and musical tastes. Classical music, contemporary pop classics, and a healthy element of surprise keep the crowds coming back year after year. Light design by Geert Vanhout, set off by ShowTex stage curtains, tracks, and motion systems have been key ingredients since NOTP's beginnings and this year's edition is no exception. 15000 fans on the opening night of NOTP 2010 can attest to that.
A new twist on the classic string or cord curtain, are the custom ShowTex Spaghetti projection "screens". A total of five of these double layered flexible stage curtains each measuring 8.5m high x 5m wide feature as projection surfaces with a 3D element. The projected images not only appear sharp and lively from any location in the venue, but also allow freedom of movement through the string curtains and images.
Also supplied by ShowTex is the black Molton 15m x 50m backdrop to astounding performances by NOTP 2010 stars Grace Jones, Boy George, John Fogerty, and John Miles among others. Dazzling black and white images displayed on the textured screens tell a story along with the music. Additional flame retardant projection screens, stage borders, and skirting are also provided by ShowTex.
