Prosonic Distributor Convention: Bigger Than Ever!
23 September 2010 16.15 BST
Italian audio manufacturer dBTechnologies' distributor convention proved to be a triumph again this year, boasting a 20% increase in attendees in comparison to last year, with an impressive 85 visitors representing 40 different countries at the Prosonic event at the weekend.
Now in its fourth year, Prosonic acted once again as a forum for the distribution network, allowing feedback from representatives around the world, whilst showcasing its newest products. “This is the chance for distributors to really get to know the potential of each of the ranges; we've given them every tool they need to help sell them in their territories,” says Michael Herweg, Sales & Marketing Director.
The greatly anticipated DVA T12 active loudspeaker module was previewed, much to the delight of the assemblage - confirming rumours that a more powerful line array is in development. Slightly larger than the hugely successful DVA T4, with three times the power (1200W) and yet exactly the same width, ensuring that the T12 can easily augment a system already made up of T4 modules, further expanding the potential of the DVA series.
Launched at Frankfurt this year, the DWS800 digital wireless system was also featured, with an in-depth seminar about digital wireless technology, highlighting the advantages of the DWS800 in the future of the wireless world. The 'future-proof' digital microphone system addresses the problem of narrowing frequency bands by using its pioneering digital transmission technology, ensuring many more frequencies are available in a narrower band, whilst still providing maximum flexibility with its high switching bandwidth.
Packed with modern digital technology, yet with an 'entry-level' price tag, the powered CROMO Series was a particular hit with the crowd, especially when it came to the sound demo. “I couldn't believe the difference in sound quality, compared to other manufacturers' products in a similar price range,” said Finland distributor, Jori Asikainen. Comprising of three modules, the CROMO range all features compact multifunctional housing, asymmetrical CD horns and a mic input on XLR and jack sockets for maximum flexibility. “I knew the dB gear was going to be pretty good, but these CROMO boxes were streets ahead of the competition – it's hard to believe they don't cost more,” adds Asikainen.
It's not only the products that are surprising. The 2009 economic crash seems to have left dBTechnologies relatively unscathed, indeed latest figures suggest that they are on course for a staggering 25% growth for 2010. “We consider this to be a particularly notable success; in many territories dBTechnologies is seen as one of the leading brands in the RCF group, which is an incredible position to be in,” comments Herweg.
Swiss distributor, Gilberto Giacon said, “This is the fourth time I have visited Prosonic, and there is always so much to learn. The great thing is, that we get answers to our questions too.”
“It is very important to us that we listen to our distributors,” explains European Sales Manager, Harald von Falkenstein. “Despite visitor numbers suggesting that dBTechnologies has gone global, we are fully aware of the value in keeping a local focus too.”
The distributors and reps enjoyed a relaxing river boat trip on the Rhine upon their arrival in Cologne on Friday, and after the intensive Prosonic workshop day, the event culminated in a party on Saturday night, celebrating the 10th anniversary of dBTechnologies' German headquarters. “The team made sure we were very well looked after for the duration. The food, drinks and music were the perfect end to a good day's work,” adds Peter Trojkovic from Australia.
