ID&C Delivers Bar-Coded Wristband Tickets For Brazilian Day Festival At The O2

Kent-based ID&C worked in collaboration with the O2 and Ticketmaster to provide bar-coded wristbands for the Brazilian Day Festival at the 02 arena in London within a 48 hour turnaround.

In January 2010, a new machine was installed at ID&C that has the capability of:
•    Printing in full colour
•    Printing variable data from a database (e.g. name, telephone number, date of birth) on each wristband
•    Printing any linear or 2D barcode
•    Printing a different logo on each band
•    Printing a full colour photograph on each band

Testing took place to ensure the product was compatible with Ticketmaster’s scanning system, installed at the O2.

 “Being a UK manufacturer, this new printing technology enables ID&C to securely print and deliver personalised photo-fit wristbands in 48 hours,” Sales Director, Matt Wilkey explained. “Wristbands are now as secure as tickets,” Matt added.

“Holding a free, all day, multi-site festival presented many challenges, one of which was managing capacity, whilst not inconveniencing our visitor,” commented           Tom Lish Arena Security Manager – The O2 arena. “This was overcome by use of barcoded wristbands which utilised our already installed, wireless Ticketmaster Access Manager system. This was the first time The O2 has used barcoded wristbands so ID&C, along with Ticketmaster, were integral in assisting us through this process. The event itself was a great success. Visitors were able to move between the festival sites with ease enabling us to keep a live count of capacity. We are currently looking to use barcoded wristbands for future events”, Tom added.

The Brazilian Day festival held at the O2 in Meridian Gardens on Saturday, 31st July celebrated the vast diversity of Brazilian culture via a huge outdoor party including live music from some of Brazil's most successful artists, celebrities and sports stars, traditional dances and great food.
