Sunbaba Brand The Bristol Harbour Festival’s Main Stages For Its Biggest Ever Year

Event branding specialist, Sunbaba, has worked with Bristol City Council for the first time to brand two of the Harbour Festival’s most iconic and popular stages. The festival attracted 250,000 people during the weekend from Friday July 30 to Sunday August 1, 2010.
The Bristol Harbour Festival, now in its 39th year, is one of the country’s largest free arts events, stretching along roughly two miles of waterfront along the city centre’s historic harbourside, with seven different performance areas.
Branding was created for the Queen Square and Millennium Square stages, which showcased a diverse selection of music and dance respectively, and are amongst the festival’s most popular attractions. The Queen Square stage hosted the Friday night concert, officially opening the 2010 festival to an audience of more than 5,000, while the New York City Ballet made their debut performance in Bristol on the Millennium Square stage.
The scrims for the two stages were both made from Sunbaba’s digisound material, which with its special weave allows sound to pass through with minimum distortion for perfect reproduction meaning listeners never missed a beat.
Sunbaba also produced the Cascade Steps stage heading banner. Using PVC ensured the vibrant colours of the festivals logo were reproduced accurately and that the banner was eye catching even from far away.
David Pyne, Bristol City Council’s sponsorship and marketing manager for the festival said: “Branding for these main stages is important at the festival as it really helps to attract and entice crowds by making the stages a focal point in the different areas, and gives a high visibility for the stage sponsors. The sponsors of the Millennium Square stage and the Queen Square stage were both very pleased with the branding. Sunbaba used materials that maximised sound quality effectively, and branded each stage perfectly.”
