Yamaha's Popular Mixers Go Mac
09 June 2010 16.24 BST
Audio engineers using Apple Macintosh computers will have something to celebrate at InfoComm 2010, as Yamaha launches a Mac-compatible version of the M7CL V3 Editor and LS9 Editor applications.
The new version, to be available from August, means that the many Mac users in the industry will benefit from the most up-to-date features and capabilities for use with the M7CL and LS9 mixing consoles.
Since its release in 2005, the M7CL digital console has become widely used throughout the global live and installed sound industry.
Successive software upgrades, up to the current Version 3, have implemented refined features and functionality requested by end users. The newest version, the M7CL-48ES, has delivered direct digital connectivity to Yamaha SB168-ES stage boxes with the same intuitive operating environment and stunning sound, while also being budget friendly.
The LS9 has also found an enthusiastic global audience since its launch in 2006, combining advanced features and ease of use with a remarkably intuitive user interface. Both consoles are found in a wide range of live music, theatre, club, corporate and educational applications.
The M7CL V3 Editor and LS9 Editor for Mac software will take the M7CL and LS9 environment to the next level. The Network-MIDI Driver has been redesigned specifically for this release, allowing M7CL Version 3 and LS9 consoles to talk directly to Macintosh computers, assuming the role of the DME-N Network Driver used on Windows platforms.
Like the Windows version, the software runs under the Studio Manager V2 host, providing the same features and operating environment as the Windows version. In addition, advanced features such as Sends on Fader operation via the M7CL V3 Editor are now available for the Mac platform.
“We are delighted to release M7CL V3 Editor and LS9 Editor for Mac to our console users around the world," said Kazunori Kobayashi, general manager of Yamaha’s Pro Audio Division.
"The release of M7CL V3 Editor and LS9 Editor for Mac, as well as the recent introductions of the digital stage box friendly M7CL-48ES and Version 3 upgrades to the M7CL series, reflects the feedback from our customers, incorporating relevant upgrades to give both existing and new users a thoroughly up-to-date, efficient working environment. This is an approach that we will continue to pursue into the future.”
Yamaha is exhibiting on Stand C6748 at InfoComm 2010, which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center between June 9-11.
