NBC-TVʼs “The Celebrity Apprentice” finale aired live on May 23, with a team and screens from Peteʼs Big TVs/Performance Video, based in New Castle, DE.

Shot with a studio audience at the Skirball Center at NYU, Peteʼs Big TVs/Performance Video supplied three screens for live and taped sequences. The main screen onstage was a Toshiba 2006 6mm screen (16' x 9') and served as a playback element to recap the seasonʼs highlights.

Upstage, a GLux 37.5mm screen (16' tall x 54' wide) served as a projection surface for background images of city skyscrapers and other scenic elements. Pop star Cyndi Lauper, a “fired” participant in the seasonʼs show, returned to sing 'Iʼm Just a Fool.' To enhance her number, a GLux screen (12' x 12') was positioned at the floor upstage.

Peteʼs Big TVs/Performance Video team members included project manager Guy Benjamin with crew Matt Ellar and Brent Jones. Said Benjamin: “We had to run the colour and brightness at lower levels for the cameras and the lighting, and with some products when that happens the image quality can degrade. But with the processing of both the Toshiba and GLux products that quality was never sacrificed. Everybody was happy with how it looked.”

Of course, the whole point of the two-hour show was for Donald Trump to choose one of two finalists as The Celebrity Apprentice. Rocker Bret Michaels, who triumphed over a brain hemorrhage and a stroke, triumphed again and was “hired.”
