Chris Downes 25.01.1962 – 20.10.2009
02 November 2009 11.03 BST
It is with great sadness that Litestructures announced the death of Chris Downes, who was tragically killed whilst riding his motorbike to work on the morning of Tuesday 20 October.
Chris joined Litestructures in 2000, and rose through promotion to shopfloor supervisor before being appointed as production manager in 2008. His spirit, determination and enthusiasm towards design and manufacturing have been great assets over that time, and the Litestructures team all came to know him as a friend, as well as an accomplished work colleague.
Chris’ life was characterised by boundless enthusiasm. He enjoyed many sports, being an experienced and accomplished motorbike rider who recorded competitive outings at the Isle of Man TT amongst other events. He was also a passionate outdoor sports enthusiast, being equally at home on skiing, canoeing or mountain biking. All of the above was combined with his dedication to his family, with whom he shared much of his time.
Speaking in an internal newsletter in 2008, Chris was able to describe himself in just three words "always give 100%". It is this determination and love of life that will be most fondly remembered, and sadly missed, by all at Litestructures.
Chris leaves his wife Julie, and three children Samual, Harry and Frederick, and our thoughts are with them, his family and friends at this time.
