New 'My Generation' Award for TPi Awards 2010
The TPi Awards 2010 will see the
birth of a new award. Introduced by popular
demand and decided by a panel of judges (tbc), the My Generation award will honour a distinctive
newcomer to the industry and encourage a new
stream of production talent.
Again as a result of high demand, the Video Director of the Year category is to be retitled as the Video Visionary Award, making it accessible to gifted content designers, producers and camera operators, as well as directors.
As recently announced, our celebrity host for the TPi Awards 2010 will be radio & TV presenter Chris Evans. Held on Monday 8 February 2010, the event will see a welcome return to the scene of much partying — the Novotel London West in Hammersmith.
After two years at Grosvenor House in London’s Park Lane, the Awards organisers have made the unanimous decision to make the event and on-site hotel accommodation more accessible to all levels of the live industry by returning to the Novotel - a move that takes into consideration a wide range of practical issues.
Mark Cunningham, TPi’s editor-in-chief and Awards creative director, commented: “We listened hard to all of the feedback to our Grosvenor House events and whilst many guests were delighted we had ‘upgraded’ to a more prestigious venue, they also missed the more informal ambience that the Novotel offered for our very sociable industry.
“Personally, I’m very comfortable with the decision and I’m sure that the benefits of notably lower bar prices, the absence of a bar curfew and the ability for guests to arrange after-hours parties in more affordable hotel suites will prove very popular... just as they were in the past!
“At the end of the day, it has always been the people who have created the atmosphere and made the TPi Awards the event it is.”
THE PSA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Also returning to the Novotel is the popular daytime programme of the Production Services Association’s Annual General Meeting and Open Forum sessions, which will take place from 10am on February 8.
Providing a further reason to be in London, this programme offers PSA members and forward-thinking professionals the opportunity to keep up to date with critical industry issues.
