Showforce Provide Support For Star Events At Stone Roses Gigs
July 2012
(UK) The much anticipated Stone Roses reunion concerts took place across the last weekend in June at Manchester’s Heaton Park, with over 220,000 fans in attendance across the three nights.
Star Events Group Ltd (SEGL), experts in designing and engineering purpose built structures, erected a 25m VerTech stage, designed specifically to accommodate the show’s production requirements. In fact, the first ever outing of the then prototype VerTech stage was back in 1990, for a Stone Roses concert at Spike Island.
Showforce, leading providers of specialist manpower, provided support to the team of eleven SEGL TDS riggers. A 25m VerTech system with a 68m frontage, provided twin 15m PA masts for the five hangs of PA per side and extended video portals for the show screens. SEGL also supplied a multilevel control tower incorporating areas for sound, lights, video and follow spots with an integrated rear audio delay mast. In addition the backstage and site perimeter was kept secure with six VT site observation towers. Sixteen Showforce crew, led by crew chief Andrew Mills, assisted throughout the six day build.
Mark Campbell, Showforce’s sales and marketing director said: “It’s always good to play a part in high profile events and we were happy to support SEGL with this project. Given the appalling weather conditions during the build the entire team did an excellent job.”
Pete Holdich, SEGL’s head of staging, supported this stating: “The Showforce crew, headed by Andrew Mills, provided robust and good humoured support to Bob Fennell and his team of riggers who oversaw the installation.”
