Green Hippo's Internship Program
17 January 2012
(UK) Green Hippo are excited to announce the start of what the Wood Green based company is hoping will prove to be a successful and on-going internship program throughout 2012 and beyond.
As of September 2011, following a successful PLASA 2011 tradeshow, Green Hippo embarked on its internship program by welcoming Suzy Casserley into the Technical Support team. Studying a BA Hons Degree in Lighting Programming at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, Suzy is involved in demo kit testing, technical support and the HippoSchool training sessions. The internship is beneficial all round; providing Suzy with the opportunity to explore new and exciting products within the lighting industry, as well as the chance to work in a professional environment with hands-on experience to help support her studies at university.
“My time at Green Hippo has been an amazing opportunity for me. I feel that I have gained a lot of practical knowledge and experience that I couldn't acquire solely in an educational environment.”
Suzy continued, “I have also had the chance to network extensively and I have made some valuable industry contacts which will hopefully help my future career. I am really enjoying my time at Green Hippo and look forward to the possibility of carrying on in 2012”.
On November 21st 2011, Arthur Horrigan, studying Music Technology and Business, also joined the program, focussing on Sales and Marketing duties at Green Hippo. Working with the company on Mondays and Tuesdays, Arthur is gaining an insight into a professional work environment, carrying out tasks such as PEST analysis, composing databases and market research.
Of the scheme Arthur commented “The placement has been fantastic for giving me business experience in an industry leading company. Working with such a professional team is going well and is enforcing what I am learning in my college course.”
James Ross Heron, Green Hippo Sales and Marketing Director stated “We value the opportunities internships provide to interface with the future professionals in our industry. Alongside the obvious benefits to the candidates, it fits in with Green Hippo's wish to stay connected with young people and their fresh approaches and views on what is still an emerging technology. As a company we have always aimed to mature with our existing contacts in this relatively new genre whilst embracing the new. The internship program facilitates this in so many ways.”
