PSA Needs Feedback On Industry Qualifications And Training

For the past 17 years, the PSA has been involved in many projects promising to deliver 'industry-led' qualifications.

As an industry, we have always felt a little disappointed with the results. After all this time, we have found ourselves with the opportunity of developing something on our own terms. The PSA is of the view that the lack of industry-led accreditation and training of both existing and new staff is one of the key issues currently facing the sector.

Consequently, we are currently in the early stages of exploring the possibility of establishing a Training and Development Institute for the exclusive use of the Live Event Technology sector. The project is in its early stages, but may include:

• A training college from which to deliver industry-led training and workforce development to accredited standards. This would be both for existing employees within the sector and people hoping for a career in the sector.

• Space for training and demonstration facilities linked to the college.

In order to develop this project, we are keen to establish the level and scale of demand for such a facility from within the sector and have developed a brief questionnaire to understand your views on this potential project.

We have also included a few questions relating to the size and growth potential of your company and views on the sector at the start of the survey. This will be used to establish the size and extent of the Live Event Technology sector within the UK which will help with any funding applications for the project.

The information will be treated confidentially. Findings will be grossed up and not attributed to any company or used for any other purpose. If you are unwilling to provide this information, we would be grateful if you could still complete the other questions relating to the Institute.
