A Static Moment At 5 Star
Friday October 28th - 11.10am
Wisbech, UK, based 5 Star Cases has delivered the latest purchase by lighting rental company Static Light of 75 new road trunks.
The cases were ordered in two different colour schemes and comprise 5 Star's 'Super Tour' type road trunks, based on its popular ‘Eurotrucker’ series. They wanted an element of uniformity, and there were also practical reasons for ordering a fleet of identical cases, like efficient transportation .... in addition to the fact that they look extremely cool!
Sixty of the cases were made in light grey with navy blue lids, and the remaining 15 in dark green with light grey lids. This helps to easily identify different contents and also the cases themselves.
Internally, the trunks are all lined with a generous layer of 12 millimetres of polyethylene foam which gives excellent hard-wearing protection and aids a snug fit. 5 Star's in-house screen printing facility was utilised to display the Static Light logo prominently on the tops and sides of the cases.
Static Lighting, headquartered in Waltham Abbey, Essex, is a regular 5 Star client and specialises in supplying daylight lightsources, primarily to the international car show sector.
Bumping into their impressive array of corporate branded 5 Star built flightcases around the world is not unusual!
Static Light's regular annual and biannual automotive events include European shows in Frankfurt, Berlin, Koln, Geneva, Paris, Lyon, Bologna, Amsterdam, Brussels, Vienna, Madrid, Barcelona and Cyprus; in Russia and the CIS states, Moscow and Minsk are on the itinerary, along with shows in Belarus and Azerbaijan; in North America and Canada they rock up in New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Washington, Miami, Las Vegas, Vancouver and Montreal; whilst Asia, Middle and Far East shows include Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, Tokyo, Delhi, Doha, Dubai, Tel Aviv and events in Korea and Thailand. In Africa, the cases are working regularly in Johannesburg SA and in Algiers, Cairo, Libya, Morocco .. and many more - the travelogues make dizzying reading!
Over the years explains Static Light's Andy Mama, they have tried to maintain a regular 'standard' case format, which has been 5 Star's most enduringly popular Eurotrucker, which caters for all their Europe-wide trucking and global sea freight container requirements.
"Using these cases, it is easy for us to calculate a quantity of lights and the space required to accommodate them," he said. Standard sea containers will take 6 cases (stacked in cups) for every 650 mm of depth, and for trucks, eight cases for every 750 mm of depth (up-ended) - "How easy is that?" he declared!
Any equipment needing special case requirements and hundreds of very fragile items like Wybron Motorised shutters/irises etc., are housed in special internal layouts that can be inserted inside the Eurotruckers, which are quickly and expertly designed in-house by the 5 Star team.
