Kissy Sell Out: On The Road With White Light
Friday August 19th - 11.39am
When Know1 Production were asked to design DJ Kissy Sell Out’s Wild Romance tour, it was to White Light that they turned to provide the show’s touring lighting rig – featuring a core of sixteen Martin’s tiny yet powerful Mac101 moving LED fixtures.
From the brief from Kissy Sell Out, Know1’s Matthew Pitman and Cy Dodimead realised they needed a design that was “pretty adaptable but quite technically advanced.”
To achieve this, they designed a pixel-mapped video screen background formed from Martin LC video panels, surrounded by vertical booms loaded with Mac101s. The show was controlled from a Martin M1 console and Maxedia Compact media server, the system configured so that the lights could be operated manually or switched to mimic the video screen.
“Both Cy and I have grown up working with White Light and because of this they were our immediate choice of hire company – I think we both really treasure the thought and attention to detail that they put into each and every hire we get from them," commented Matthew Pitman.
“Cy and Matt were very keen to tour the Mac101, for its compact size and weight, its fast movement, its brightness and its versatile LED ‘face’,” White Light’s Dave Isherwood said.
“We liked the light, and so we’ve added forty to the White Light rental stock; 16 went straight out on Kissy and the rest are proving enormously popular in festivals, on corporate events and other shows.”
White Light also supplied the Kissy show with Martin Atomic strobes, and with all of the rigging, cabling and infrastructure to make the tour work – creating a versatile touring package that contributed to a hugely successful tour.
